What is the Use of Gefitinib Tablets?

Gefitinib Tablet is a drug belongs to the category of anticancer drugs. This medication is specifically indicated to treat non small cell lung cancer, as well as some other cancers also.




Mechanism of action of Gefitinib

Gefitinib interfares with the growth of cancerous cells, it do not allow the cell to grow further and divide themselves.


Side effects of Gefitinib

There are some side effects of gefitinib like:

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin reaction like rash, acne, redness, inflammation, loss of appetite, infection in eyes, liver problem, loss of hairs, difficulty in swallowing, tiredness, dizziness, weakness, dehydration, difficulty in breathing , fever, cough etc.


Precautions with Gefitinib

While using gefitinib medication, be sure that you are not allergic to the active pharmaceutical ingredient – grfitinib and other active ingredients used in finished formulation.


Avoid any type of vaccination or immunization during use of this medication.


Special precautions to be taken in case of pregnancy and breast feeding conditions. Do not take this medication if you are pregnant, the drug having hazardous effects on fetus.


Also do not take this medication if you are on breast feeding. As Gefitinib secretes in human milk, it can cause harmful effects on child.


If you are already taking this medication, avoid conceiving baby during the medication phases.
