What are the Uses of Letrozole Tablets?

Letrozole Tablet is a drug of anticancer category. It is indicated for the treatment of specified type of breast cancer.




Mechanism of action of Letrozole


Letrozole is an inhibitor of an enzyme called nonsteroidal aromatase. This enzyme helps in increasing the level of a hormone known as estrogen in postmenopausal females. Letrozole acts by blocking the nonsteroidal aromatase enzyme, it results in decreasing level of estrogen hormone in body, due to this the growth of cancerous cells get slow down.


Side effects of Letrozole


Letrozole medication have some side effects also such as:

Tiredness, sweating, hair loss, hot flashes, joint pain, bone pain, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, difficulty in sleeping, depression, anxiety, mood swings, blurring of vision, dizziness, headache, skin reactions like rashes, swelling, redness, cough, dark yellow urine, lungs problem, difficulty in breathing, pain in arms and legs etc.


Precautions with Letrozole


While using letrozole medication some precautions should be taken.

If you are taking this medication, you should aware about the allergic reactions with the active pharmaceutical ingredients and other ingredients used in the formulation.

Special precautions to be taken during pregnancy and breast feeding stage. Avoid the use of Letrozole during pregnancy as it may be harmful for developing baby. Also avoid its use during breast feeding stage as letrozole get secreted in human milk.
